20 years of loving. 20 years of spending.

Had I not committed to my Vegas vow renewal thing* I think I'd be doing pretty well with my current spending goals. Instead, I just booked an Elvis wedding** for $399. Yes, that's right. A girl's got to celebrate, right? I mean, my wedding cost $0 and basically no one was there so $399 sounds like a bargain in the whole scheme of wedding type things (Hey, mom? since you didn't, like, have to pay for my wedding, do you wanna shell out some cash for this thing? No? Oh silly, I was kidding!!)

Another expense for our trip to Vegas: ENTERTAINMENT. We're going to see Cirque du Soleil's "O" right smack on my birthday. $165 per ticket to sit in the "wet seats". Even if we skip dinner that's a fairly expensive birthday present.

I will tell you this. Not a penny of this thing was paid for with a credit card. That's got to count for something, right?

p.s. why do I keep calling it a "thing"?

*When I got married in 1989 it was in a tiny temple in Taipei, Taiwan. My grandparents were there, along with Robert's mother and a friend who taught English with us. There were plans to have some kind of reception later for friends and family but that never happened so I've always thought it'd be nice to do a vow renewal. So here I am, 20 years later, planning a celebration with friends and family. If you want to come let me know...I'll send details.

**Yes, approximately 15 guests will enjoy 3 lovely songs sung by Elvis aka Eddie Powers (
Robert asked me what we do when Elvis is singing...god if I know! Swoon?) and will share in the renewing of our vows (which I'm a little confused about but whatever). The real question is what will I do with my "8 X 10 Signed Glossy Photo of Elvis | Eddie that you can treasure for years"?

All I can say is Awesome!!!!
Even if it were on a credit card (which its not!) this is soooo cool! I am so happy for you. And honestly, there is nothing you missed with the whole, family, cake cutting, blah blah same as everyone wedding!
Taiwan was probably way better and now Elvis? - well I am not sure I would want him there- but it is your re-wedding and it is too cool.

I/We opted for the blue man group rather than the cirque but I hear it is WAY worth the $$$.
cant wait to hear the details- well maybe not the post wedding stuff but....you know what I mean!
Just one question? are you absolutely sure? I mean, the man cant even figure out his underwear.
Must be TRUE LOVE!

Sounds like a blast. I would pay for your wedding but then I wouldn't be able to afford to come. (Ha Ha) We can't wait. I kind of wish it were us as well but then things are just great the way they are.

That is cool that it is paid in cash. I would be there too if I could pay with cash and didn't have other things up and coming that we are not sure about making it difficult to use what we do have saved. Anyway, maybe mom will sink and you will have a dual wedding? Someday I'd like to have a celebration as well, we didn't pay anything for our wedding!
(ps I forgot Rob had such a lush head of hair!)
