Here is my tentative turkey day menu. Items marked with a (*) are new to me. I'm missing a bread, a green veggie, and sweet potatoes. If you have ideas for me, let me know!
Honey brined turkey and giblet gravy (actually not sure if I'll make the giblet gravy; it's kind of a pain and a little too creamy for me)
Cranberry sauce with sour cherries and rum*
Butternut squash and cheddar bread pudding*
Mashed potatoes (like these but I'm leaving out the horseradish this year)
Tony Bourdain's sausage stuffing*
Chocolate peanut butter mousse pie*
This leaves the vegetarians with a full plate: cheddar bread pudding, mashed potatoes, cranberries and a yet to be determined veggie. The vegetarians also LOVE gravy so perhaps I can talk one of them into making a mushroom gravy.

I'm planning on doing candied yams with apples, maple ginger glazed carrots and possibly a root vegetable gratin. My parents are coming so I have an excuse to cook! Just picked up my free turkey today, though everyone knows, Thanksgiving is all about the sides!!
Free turkey! I want a free turkey. Instead I think I'm going to splurge on a Whole Food's heritage. They're a mere $40.
Good for you!! Isn't $40 like a week's worth of groceries or something!!! Actually, as my Dad says, the turkey is "free" for $300 (the amount I had to spend at Pathmark to earn it). Of course, I got the biggest one I could find!
yum this recipe sounds like a great meal. We are going pretty traditional this year. I am in charge of the stuffing and our home made pies.
That stuffing recipe is so much like my mom's recipe that I will be making.
She always makes a giblet gravy but that means boiling them slowly all day and then chopping and adding to the gravy.
cant wait for thanksgiving. I love the holiday
